I eventually want to own my own magazine for young girls, but before that I want to work for a broadcast company, write books, and edit the works of others. I'm pretty much down for anything within the communications field, I don't like just doing one thing. I like writing, anything music related, being with my friends, and laughing...a lot!
One diversity issue I've noticed in the media is the perception of female rappers. Many believe that female rappers are participating in a male field. By trying to compete with their male counterparts, female rappers display negative images of themselves. In a field where they should be diversifying themselves from male rappers, female rappers are doing nothing but showcasing themselves as the type of women that male rappers talk about in their music. In this article the author discusses how female rappers have transformed over time, into these female demeaning images. This causes a loss of respect by male rappers and by men in general. Their image becomes important, and the content of their music (which should be main focus) becomes unimportant and overlooked. Along with being half naked in their own videos, female rappers don't even respect their own sex by degrading other women and themselves with their lyrics. How can young, female audiences turn from demeaning rap music when female rappers disrespect themselves just as much as male rappers.
The following video explores an unsigned female rapper and her viewpoints she titles "Death of the Female Rapper".
